You've found the flights, you've picked the regions — now the question is: how much money do you actually need? Most Turkey budget guides give you one vague number for the whole country. Turkey's regions vary enormously in cost — a day in Istanbul costs nearly twice what a day in Eastern Anatolia costs, and Cappadocia has a completely different price logic from the Aegean coast.

Istanbul: Daily Budget

Istanbul is Turkey's most expensive city — comparable to mid-tier European cities for accommodation, significantly cheaper for food and transport.

Cappadocia operates differently from every other Turkish region. Cave hotels command significant premiums; the hot air balloon is a major single cost; and the region's tourist infrastructure means mid-range prices are closer to comfortable prices elsewhere.

Accommodation:

The balloon: €150 – €220 per person — non-negotiable in price, book directly with a licensed operator. Budget at least one balloon-flight day into your overall costs.

Food:

• Budget: Local restaurants in Göreme → €10 – €18/day
• Mid-range: Mix of hotel breakfast + local restaurants → €25 – €45/day
