But not every month is right for every trip. Here is your honest, month-by-month guide to help you decide when to go.

Spring (April – May): The Sweet Spot

Spring is widely considered the best time to visit Turkey. Temperatures are comfortable — between 15°C and 25°C across most regions — crowds are manageable, and prices have not yet reached their summer peak. Cappadocia's valleys are green, Istanbul's tulip festivals are in full bloom, and the Aegean coast is warm enough to enjoy without the July heat.

Summer is peak season along the Turkish coast. Bodrum, Antalya, Fethiye, and the Turquoise Coast are at their most beautiful — and their most crowded. Temperatures regularly exceed 35°C inland, which can make sightseeing tiring. That said, if beaches and boat trips are your priority, summer delivers.

September and October are arguably the most underrated months to visit Turkey. The summer crowds thin out, temperatures drop to a very pleasant 20–28°C, and the landscape turns rich shades of red and gold. The sea is still warm enough to swim, and tour availability is excellent.

Winter (November – March): Quiet, Cheap & Magical

Winter is low season for tourism, which means lower prices, near-empty historical sites, and a completely different atmosphere. Istanbul in winter has a moody, cinematic quality. Cappadocia under snow is genuinely breathtaking. The southeastern region — Mardin, Diyarbakır, Şanlıurfa — is actually more comfortable to visit in winter than in summer, when temperatures can exceed 40°C.

Not all tours run in winter, but if you are flexible and want to experience Turkey without the crowds, December through February can be surprisingly rewarding.
